Accommodations

We recommend that you make your hotel reservations as early as possible as Honolulu is a popular vacation spot and rooms are always in demand.

Attendees shall make their own reservations directly with the desired accommodation provider.

However, below you will find one regular hotel suggestion (there are many hotels in the Waikiki area which is a 10-15 minute taxicab ride to the meeting venue) as well as information about opportunities to stay in the on-campus housing next to the meeting venue.

For the Joint Techs Meeting in February, 2001, many people stayed in the Sheraton Waikiki. A short description of the Sheriton follows.

Another great feature of Sheraton's presence in Waikiki, is their "Stay at One, Play at All" program. In addition to the services and amenities of Sheraton Waikiki, you can enjoy the dining, entertainment, shopping and fitness of her sister properties, The Royal Hawaiian (2259 Kalakaua Avenue), Sheraton Moana Surfrider (2365 Kalakaua Avenue) and the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani (120 Kaiulani Avenue)... all within walking distance!

h." The East-West Center provides housing for its participants in three on-campus residence halls, one of which is LINCOLN HALL. Each residence hall has a reception desk to provide check-in and check-out services. The desks also take messages, provide change for laundry and vending machines, issue spare keys and provide general information. Centrally located in Honolulu's Manoa Valley, the East-West Center is adjacent to the University of Hawaii.

LINCOLN HALL -- A four-story building serviced by one elevator. All apartments have cable TV, telephone service and private bathroom facilities. These facilities are NOT air-conditioned, and hotel-type services such as porters, room service, etc., are not available. Coin-operated washers and dryers, ice machines, irons, ironing boards and a microwave are located within the hall for guest use. Bedding, linen and towels are provided. Rooms are cleaned Monday-Friday. Most apartment units have a double bed. Marriott Education Services operates cafeterias and other food outlets throughout the University of Hawaii Campus. Their Paradise Palms Cafe is across the street from Lincoln Hall. The Campus Center and other cafeterias are within a 5-10 minute walk of the East-West Center campus.

Desk Hours are 7:30am-9:30pm. After-hour arrivals and departures are processed at the Hale Manoa Hall which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
